Information about Fence Permits
Installing a fence requires a special building permit in most cities and counties.  Requirements and fees can be very different depending on your location. Typically, a contractor or an owner of the house must present their municipality with a copy of the property survey, along with the specifications and plans for an intended fence. Permit fees in DeSoto County generally range between $35 and $100. Good news! We pay permit costs for municipalities with closing costs less than $50.

What if I don’t have a Survey?
In the event you cannot submit a property survey (lost or damaged?), you must contact a professional survey company and arrange to have a new one made.  The approximate cost of a typical property survey is $500.

Are there Penalties for Non-Compliance?

Yes! In most cases, both the property owner AND the fence installer are liable – and penalty fines can be shocking. Although some municipalities are more lenient than others, ensuring your permit documentation is accurate, and following the rules & limitations can save you thousands of dollars.
